Frank. You are a real smartass. I'm not going to write to you anymore. Please don't write to me. My dojo kun is just fine. I'm not going to debate you on it. Furthermore, you act like you are enlightening all of us that there are hidden techniques within the bunkai of kata. We all know that. A 9 year old can read just about any book on kata and find that out. Did your parents slap you when you were growing up? They should have. By the way, I'm older than you "my son." You ARE an arrogant punk.

I am not arrogant my son, but rather one who wants to enlighten you on what REAL karate do is! Your lack of knowledge is nothing to be ashamed of, nor to be angry about when someone brings truth to you. Where is your self control? Where is your Dojo Kun? Where is your Shotokan ideals? Are they in name only? Calm the storm within yourself, and come listen to the truth! Leave the myths and stories behind. Submerge your ego, and open your mind!

this response is indicative of someone who has such little knowledge, but thinks he does by repeating nonsense! How can there be "full contact" and "punches to the head", if there is kime? And you cannot, "disrespect" someone, only , "show disrespect". Matches are based on kime, otherwise it is just a brawl! Shotokan is based upon a straight line attack. It is not based upon a circular attack. Your training is incorrect. You should have one on one, as it was originally taught! Not group!

You are absolutely right. Although karate teaches self defense, it is so much more than that. "Karate is not only dojo training." Some people just want to fight. Typing about fighting is one thing, but in actual reality, being a hothead is not a healthy way to live, and it certainly demonstrates poor character. Thanks for the response. These videos of Master Kanazawa are so helpful and much appreciated.

How does no mention of kime mean that no one knows anything? This isn't a vocabulary test. All good fighters in any style use kime, or else they'd be stiff as a board. As for boxing, its an awesome style that produces excellent well conditioned fighters. I wouldn't disrespect boxing like you do karate. Karate DOES move side to side, and roll with the punches. I don't think I'm ever going to convince you. Good luck with your training. Try to keep a more open mind about things. Goodbye.

I correct what I see as improper karate do, and support REAL karate do! Head shots as we know are illegal in point matches. Cheaters do than figuring the opponent won't be ready. Unlike boxing, there is NO training on defending the head. Unlike boxing, there is no side to side motion, or rolling with the punch. Anyone can hurt anyone with a punch to the head, that proves NOTHING! I've noticed that there is no mention of kime in ANY of these posts. Proof that these people know nothing!

Why dont we all just buy guns, they work. Also why does everyone assume LEARNING karate is purely to learn how to beat someone up ? if i wanted that id join the UFC or something buy a gun or carry a taser, theres a deeper meaning to karate, what its given me is far beyond a means of self defence. A youtube comment cannot justify it enough.

I really want to correct you on one point, and I've mentioned this several times. The "contact" issue. You talk about people living in a fantasy land, but the real fantasy is you believing that all karate guys point spar. Why don't you step in the ring and go full contact with a karate guy, and I think that you will find real quick that there is quite a bit of head contact. As for self defense, life and death, karate is for that too. You bash karate and than you defend it. Which is it? |
